Civic Engagement Curriculum: Circle of Parks

Inviting you to view and share this curriculum project: “A Circle of Parks: Boston Parks and Greenspace as a Case Study in Civic Engagement.” This project was developed through the Southwest Corridor Park’s youth and family programming mini-grant initiative, as an alternative project during the height of the pandemic, when there was little in-person programming. The Southwest Corridor Park has a rich history of civic engagement, one that is widely appreciated and shared among park neighbors. This project links the history of the Southwest Corridor Park with the older history of Boston’s Emerald Necklace to focus on themes in civic engagement.

The project includes five lesson plan modules, with videos, readings and activities, for classroom and youth programs. The lessons and materials can be mixed and matched, and can be used in-person or online. You can find the links to the curriculum on the swcpc.org website under “Youth Activities”, at http://swcpc.org/curriculum.asp and at the direct link: http://contextuallearningportal.org/contextual.asp?projectnumber=765.3735
